During my time at my Barcroft, I assisted the editing team by re-versioning our video content for our different platforms. I've also helped edit short-form docs and have been able to develop a really decent working knowledge of Premiere Pro and After Effects.
Throughout 3 years, I've assisted and edited across hundreds of videos, so I've made a small collection of the some of the best performers.
'I want kids but my husband is twice my age'
This episode of our show 'Love Don't Judge' was originally edited in a 16:9 format for our Youtube Channel, and so it could be easily syndicated out to our partners.
However, through trial and error and looking at our competition, my team and I figured out that videos in a square 1:1 format perform better on Facebook.
I got access to the project files of the videos and re-versioned the episodes, so that all of the graphics and text would display properly in the new format and that each shot was correctly positioned. This particular episode went on achieve 64.5 million views on Facebook and we adopted this new way of working for all of our content for Facebook.

I then spent several months going through our back-catalog of 2000+ videos, selecting the best ones and formatted them for our various pages.
Snapchat discover
Snapchat's 'Discover' page hosts a wide variety of content from selected publishers.
Barcroft Studios got accepted into the programme around the time I joined the company, and we quickly became one of their best performing partners, with more shows on the platform than any other publisher in the world.

The process of re-formatting our content for the platform was cutting the episodes up into around 30 or so individual 'snaps' and re-editing the ep so that the flow was much punchier and grabbed the attention of the viewer as quickly as possible, and retaining their concentration until at least the first ad break.

At first I was just involved in the basic process of editing these videos, helping the editors choose the best parts of the video to put in the intro and basic cutting work.
As my experience grew, my role eventually transitioned into handling the entire edit, when we were short staffed on editors.

Below is an example of one of our best performing edits for Snapchat.
TikTok
We started out on TikTok early in 2020, and while it wasn't our main priority with only 26 posts over the past year, we quickly grew the account to over 220K+ followers.

The editing process for this was very simple and just involved finding the bits of content we thought would best connect with the demographic, and cutting together a short video.
Here's a link to one I made that quickly achieved 22.3 million views and 1.5 million likes:
